Rocky Mountain Rails is a Colorado large scale railroad club. This website provides public information about the club and also includes a member login area for member-only content and account management.
If you use the contact form, we receive the information you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number if you choose to provide it, the topic you select, and your message.
If you become a member or use the member account system, we also store the account and membership information needed to manage your membership, help you sign in, and keep the member area working.
Like most websites, we automatically receive some technical information when you use the site. That can include your IP address, browser details, and request information used for security, troubleshooting, and spam prevention.
We also store sign-in session information when members log in, and we store a simple theme preference in your browser if you switch between light and dark mode.
We do not sell visitor or member information. Information is shared only when needed to run the site or handle club business.
The public site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Members who sign in receive a session cookie so the website can remember that they are logged in. If a member chooses "Remember me," that session lasts longer.
The site may also save a simple theme preference in your browser so your chosen light or dark mode is remembered on future visits.
Member information is used to run the membership system and support club operations. Passwords are not stored in plain text. The site stores password hashes, session records, and account-related records needed to support sign-in, renewals, password resets, and member administration.
Member-only pages are protected by authentication. Even so, members should use normal caution when sharing personal information online.
We keep information only as long as it is reasonably useful for club operations, account management, security, troubleshooting, or recordkeeping. Some records may need to stay longer when they are part of the normal membership history or site administration process.
If you have a question about how your information is handled, want to correct something, or want to ask about account privacy, use the contact form. That is the best public way to reach the club about privacy-related questions.
We take reasonable steps to protect the website and member information, but no website can promise perfect security. If we change how the site handles information in a meaningful way, we will update this page.
