Come ride with us.

Rocky Mountain Rails is a large scale railroad club near Waterton Canyon in southwest Denver, built around dual-gauge operations, live steam, and welcoming visitors who want to experience the tracksite.

Why visitors enjoy Rocky Mountain Rails

The railroad sits on Denver Water property near beautiful Chatfield Reservoir, where wide-open skies, water views, and the Front Range create a setting that feels far removed from the city even though it is close to Denver.

Visitors get to see roughly 5,000 feet of dual-gauge track, steam-up facilities, a loading area, and full operating sessions, all framed by reservoir scenery and mountain views that make a day at the tracksite feel special.

  • 5,000 feet of dual-gauge track

A substantial 4 3/4 inch and 7 1/2 inch layout with loading area, gazebo, turntable, and steam-up bays.

  • Guests are welcome

Prospective visitors can arrange a visit through the contact page and experience the railroad in person.

  • Equipment available on site

No locomotive yet? The club maintains gasoline-powered equipment and many members offer rides to visitors.
