Job Description

Instructional Faculty Full-Time - Psychology Montgomery College is seeking two full-time psychology faculty members in the Department of Education and Psychology, beginning January 2026. Positions are primarily at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring and Rockville campuses, with potential teaching at the East County Education Center and off-site dual enrollment locations. These positions are part of a collective bargaining unit. Overview We are looking for enthusiastic, professional teachers who are committed to student success in a multicultural, two-year college setting. The psychology faculty will contribute to a varied program that supports diverse learning abilities and offers courses in multiple formats and times to accommodate busy students. Faculty engage in student support and co-curricular initiatives, curriculum development, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Duties And Responsibilities Teach 30 semester hours of courses per academic year related to General Psychology and other psychology topics (e.g., Human Growth and Development, Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Introduction to Psychopathology, Educational Psychology, The Psychology of Learning). Teach a varied schedule that may include day, night, early morning, weekend, online, off-campus, dual enrollment, and/or accelerated sections; opportunities for summer and winter classes may exist. Serve on or lead department, discipline, campus, or college-wide committees; participate in psychology coordination at the campus; mentor part-time faculty. Participate in discipline assessment activities, including assessment design, data collection, and report writing. Apply culturally relevant and empathic pedagogies to teaching and learning; engage students through active collaborative learning. Engage in student outreach events to increase program visibility and learning outcomes. Incorporate educational enterprise platforms (e.g., Blackboard Ultra) and zero-cost resources into instruction. Coordinate with psychology faculty on other campuses to ensure a consistent student learning experience. Implement embedded advising and/or embedded classroom support services. Maintain a minimum of five office hours per week for academic support and advising. Advise students about discipline course offerings, academic planning, certificates, transfer opportunities, and careers in psychology. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related discipline (graduate coursework must reflect both depth and breadth in psychology). Teaching experience at the post-secondary level; graduate student or teaching assistant experience will be considered. Ability to engage with and facilitate learning for students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. Demonstrated commitment to student success, including retention, transfer, graduation, employment opportunities, and community engagement. Eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship. Experience with multiple teaching modalities (e.g., in-person, blended/hybrid, HyFlex, OER, online). Experience using teaching technologies (e.g., Blackboard Ultra, Canvas). Experience providing academic and career advising and other student support services. Ongoing professional development; willingness to teach distance education courses; experience serving on committees or advisory groups. Hiring Range $63,254 - $96,299.
